ROMAN TOWN OF ITALICA
The ancient Roman town of Italica is located in the south of Hispania, approximately 8 km away from Seville, next to a tributary of the Betis River (nowadays named Guadalquivir) in a small hill that saved the town from the winter floodings. The privileged location, together with the river and the rich soil, contributed to the growing of the population. Furthermore, the emperors Trajan, Hadrian and Theodosius are linked to the town. |
